ATA 6200 MAIN ROTOR SYSTEM–CLIP–UNSERVICEABLE–PART NO. 204-040-231-001. DR 611852002
Upon removal of M/R mast, retention clip was found in the support case, close to the mast roller bearing. It was identified as liberated from accessory and sump drive quill assembly 212-040-365-023. This clip had been replaced ‘new’ during overhaul. New clip installed. However, the new clip did not appear to have the normal characteristics of spring steel and doesn’t return to its original shape when installed. Consequently, clip felt loose and presented the potential to once again migrate from its location. Further two clips from the same batch were installed with similar results and rejected. An alternate batch clip was installed and found satisfactory.

Requested flap actuator, alternate part supplied, however on fitment, it was noted that ball nut thread was too short and could not be locked into safety. On notifying the supplier, correct part was supplied.
