CONTINENTAL IO520–ATA 7322 FUEL CONTROL/RECIPROCATING ENGINES–INJECTOR–FOULED. DR 611851769
Pilot reported that on climb there was a slight vibration from the engine, but performance was fine with no abnormal engine gauge indications. At about 4000 ft, engine ‘coughed’, and performance was reduced. Aircraft returned for an uneventful landing. Root cause was traced to fouled fuel injectors. All fuel nozzles removed, cleaned and inspected (two found fouled). FCU and flow divider filters cleaned as well. Ground runs carried out. Nil defect evident. Aircraft returned to service.
