1 July

  • Aircraft: Air Tractor AT-502B
  • Location: Porto dos Gaúchos, Brazil
  • Fatalities: 1
  • Description: Aircraft encountered strong wind on take-off which forced it low over road parallel to airstrip where it struck a ute, killing rear seat passenger. Pilot unharmed.

8 July

  • Aircraft: Airbus A319-111
  • Location: Bergamo Airport, Italy
  • Fatalities: 1
  • Description: A man entered airport parking lot by driving wrong way through bus lane. He ran through terminal arrivals and baggage handling area and onto a taxiway. He jumped into left engine of taxiing airliner and was killed.

13 July

  • Aircraft: Beechcraft B200 Super King Air
  • Location: London Southend Airport, UK
  • Fatalities: 4
  • Description: Medical service aircraft rolled left to near inverted attitude immediately after take-off and crashed. Two pilots, doctor and nurse killed.

24 July

  • Aircraft: Antonov An-24RV
  • Location: Near Tynda, Russia
  • Fatalities: 48
  • Description: Turboprop airliner crashed on approach, 15 km short of runway, in Amur region of eastern Russia.

2 August

  • Aircraft: Team Rocket F4 Raider
  • Location: Sea near Port de Soller, Mallorca, Spain
  • Fatalities: 2
  • Description: Amateur-built aerobatic aircraft crashed during aerobatic manoeuvre, killing pilot and his son.

5 August

  • Aircraft: Beechcraft 300 Super King Air
  • Location: Chinle, Arizona, US
  • Fatalities: 4
  • Description: Witness saw medical service aircraft flying at about 180 feet over runway at destination airport. Aircraft banked left several times, levelled and pitched up. Left wing dropped to knife-edge bank and aircraft dived to ground and exploded.

7 August

  • Aircraft: Cessna 560XL Citation XLS
  • Location: Mwihoko, Kenya
  • Fatalities: 6
  • Description: Medical service aircraft departed from climb at about 12,000 feet and entered steep dive. CCTV showed aircraft spinning. Witnesses reported smoke trail. Impact killed all on board and 2 on ground.

13 August

  • Aircraft: Cameron Z-750 balloon
  • Location: Near De Hoeve, Netherlands
  • Fatalities: 1
  • Description: Balloon made hard landing and dragged basket. One death and 5 injuries out of 2 pilots and 32 passengers.

16 August

  • Aircraft: Antonov An-2
  • Location: Near Kisangani, Democratic Republic of Congo
  • Fatalities: 6
  • Description: Russian biplane crashed into forest on permit flight to Kisangani to obtain certificate of airworthiness. One occupant survived with injuries.

22 August

  • Aircraft: Cessna A185F Skywagon
  • Location: Bangor, Maine, US
  • Fatalities: 1
  • Description: Tail dragger aircraft crashed while landing in gusty crosswinds after ferry flight from Europe. Previous stop was Goose Bay, Canada. Ferry pilot killed.

25 August

  • Aircraft: Robinson R44 Clipper II
  • Location: Shanklin, Isle of Wight, UK
  • Fatalities: 3
  • Description: Helicopter crashed into hedge 3 km from departure airport. Single survivor.

5 September

  • Aircraft: Beechcraft P35 Bonanza (V-tail)
  • Location: Denver, Colorado, US
  • Fatalities: 2
  • Description: Aircraft departed from controlled flight during familiarisation/instructional flight for pilot intending on buying another similar Bonanza. Witnesses reported engine stopping and steep bank before descent.

6 September

  • Aircraft: Robinson R66
  • Location: Lakeville, Minnesota, US
  • Fatalities: 2
  • Description: Witness reported helicopter flying straight and level before sharp turn to right and dive into ground.

7 September

  • Aircraft: BRM Aero Bristell LSA-K
  • Location: Prague Letany airfield, Czech Republic
  • Fatalities: 2
  • Description: Aircraft crashed soon after take-off. Cockpit canopy found open and crash believed to be due to instructor’s attempts to close it, compromising situational awareness and flight control.

10 September

  • Aircraft: Eurocopter AS 350B3+ Ecureuil
  • Location: Jila, Central Papua, Indonesia
  • Fatalities: 4
  • Description: Helicopter struck wooded mountain side in adverse weather.

18 September

  • Aircraft: Cirrus SR22T GTS G5 carbon
  • Location: Near Macon County Airport, North Carolina, US
  • Fatalities: 3
  • Description: Aircraft crashed on go-around and came to rest 150 metres north of runway threshold.

20 September

  • Aircraft: Cessna 150M
  • Location: Cuidad Mitras, Mexico
  • Fatalities: 2
  • Description: Aircraft flying circuits crashed. Video shows helicopter in close proximity to aeroplane before crash.

24 September

  • Aircraft: Learjet 55
  • Location: Caracas Simon Bolivar Airport, Venezuela
  • Fatalities: 2
  • Description: Government-operated business jet overran runway on take-off and caught fire. Two passengers survived.
