LYCOMING TIO540 J2BD–ATA 8120 EXHAUST TURBOCHARGER–BYPASS VALVE–INOPERATIVE. DR 611750057
Pilot observed loss of manifold pressure. Differential compression check to assess integrity of LH side cylinders. Turbocharger assay inspected on inlet/outlet sections. Troubleshooting/fault isolation C/O on turbocharger system IAW PA31-350MM Sec VIII and individual components identified. Differential compression satisfactory. Turbocharger inlet/outlet section satisfactory condition. Wastegate, density controller condition satisfactory. Diff pressure controller removed. Replaced with slave, eng run carried out satisfactory. Slave removed, replaced with overhauled controller. Eng run carried out satisfactory. Defect rectified.
LYCOMING O360 A1H6–ATA 8530 RECIPROCATING ENGINE CYLINDER SECTION–EXHAUST VALVE–STUCK. DR 611750062
Engine rough running on power reduction at TOC. Investigation revealed LH engine number 4 exhaust valve stuck open. New cylinder assembly installed.
LYCOMING TIO540 J2BD–ATA 7810 ENGINE COLLECTOR/TAILPIPE/NOZZLE–EXHAUST PIPE–HOLED. DR 611750083
During the 50 hourly inspection, we found the turbo exhaust burnt through and small amount of heat damage to the fire wall. The potential consequence could have been possible fire in the right-hand engine. Further inspection found the exhaust failed due to heat erosion and was replaced with a new exhaust segment.
