Aircraft maintainers play a vital role in keeping the skies safe. Every day, millions of passengers rely on aircraft that have been inspected, maintained and certified by licensed professionals to ensure they are safe and airworthy.
That’s why CASA is celebrating their contribution this May with the return of ‘May-tenance Month’ – a dedicated campaign recognising the essential work of aircraft maintenance engineers across Australia.
Throughout the month, CASA will be raising awareness of the many career paths within aircraft maintenance and encouraging people to explore opportunities in this rewarding and highly skilled field.
This year’s theme – ‘The safety chain starts with you’ – focuses on how every safe flight begins on the ground, with the decisions, checks and actions taken during maintenance. When each link in that chain is strong – from certification to inspection and release to service – it helps ensure aircraft, and the people who rely on them, stay safe.
CASA will host a series of pre-recorded engaging online toolbox talks featuring insights from their engineering experts.
Whether you’re on the tools, leading a team or looking to grow your career, there’s something in this year’s line-up for everyone.
- Toolbox talk 1 – Certification and the meaning of the signature
- Toolbox talk 2 – Independent inspections and functional checking
- Toolbox talk 3 – Maintenance decision-making under operational pressure
- Toolbox talk 4 – When maintenance is examined: learning from occurrences.
CASA is also bringing back an exclusive social media competition for aircraft maintainers, with 3 Snap-on Tools vouchers worth $500 each up for grabs.
This month is all about celebrating the dedication, technical expertise and ongoing commitment of the people who keep our aircraft flying safely.
Follow CASA on their social media channels to stay connected and help spread the word. You can also subscribe to maintenance updates for the latest safety information year-round.
